Ukrainian Borshch – beetroot soup ~ борщ

 

Borshch is the national soup of Ukraine.

Filled with beetroot – it is a hearty soup which showcases the love Ukrainians have for their cooking and their land. It is said that there are 500 different versions of Borshch.

Take-Away Soup in 750ml portions (microwave safe) serves 2 people. Keep chilled and just heat up to enjoy a warm soup meal.

Preparation for Borshch:

a/ Fresh: A saucepan or pot with a lid

b/ Frozen: Defrost in the refrigerator overnight and reheat on the stove top.

– Reheating in the Microwave is undoubtedly one of the fastest ways to heat or reheat food, but texture of some foods can suffer in the process.

– Reheating on the Stovetop is a great way-stick to low to medium heat and stir often to promote even heating.

 

 

During Ukrainian Christmas season, traditionally meatless Borshch is served with Vushka (mushroom dumplings) .
